The home project is a design studio dedicated to cultural research & development.

Our design-process starts from relation with people and places.
We design embedded solutions, that have an origin.
Within this framework, we create and coordinate projects.
We develop products- useful and authentic.
We curate exhibitions and organize workshops- simple, touching and provoking.

ABOUT US

We strongly believe in authentic simplicity- drawn from the curiosity and passion for making things. For us design is a continuous learning process where consciousness is key. By engaging in social and cultural research, we develop designs that explore sensitivity, sustainable material culture and often traditions.

The-home-project * is a design studio founded in 2004 by Albio Nascimento (PT) and Kathi Stertzig (DE).
The studio is based in Berlin-Germany and Faro-Portugal.

Kathi, after studying interior design in Hanover and Milan, graduated in 2003 (and lectured after) at the Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands. For 3 years she coordinated IllegalBeauty, a social campaign about people without papers in Antwerp, Belgium. Between 2008-2010 she taught product design at the Bauhaus-University Weimar, Germany.
Kathi loves to observe people and create scenarios, where people have to interact.
Albios training in interior and product design in Lisbon and Milan led to his special interest in researching the significance of home and housing through cultures. Between 2005 and 2009 he curated DesignForFuture, an annual exhibition on sustainable design. He continues to pursue his research on cultural innovation and vernacular crafts, about which he recently submitted his MA thesis. Currently he lectured at the FH Potsdam, Germany.
Albio loves to ask disturbing questions.
